Offshore Technology Institute Introduction: Offshore Technology Institute (OTI) is an arm of the Graduate School of Engineering and Technology, University of Port Harcourt that partners with Society for Underwater Technology (SUT) and Global Maritime WA to carry out Teaching, Research and Continuous Professional Development (CPD) directed at sustainability of the Offshore Oil and Gas Industry.

Graduate Programmes of the Institute
OTI runs M.Sc in Pipeline Engineering and M.Sc in Offshore Engineering. The environment in the Institute is conducive to learning and students have access to virtual library and internet facilities. Students use industry software, do case studies and undertake field visits. Students are encouraged to live and work together thereby enhancing the development of team spirit.

This professional Master’s Degree is directed at providing graduates of engineering with a broad based training required for Offshore Oil and Gas Industry. The Teaching Staff consists of Lecturers from the University of Port Harcourt (Uniport), other Universities in Nigeria, Lecturers from our Partner Universities and Professional Institutions abroad, as well as experts from the Industry.

At the end of this programme, the graduates will among other skills, be able to:
work methodologially and logically to solve real-life problems in the face of conflicting requirements
evaluate, explore and manage offshore oil and gas fields
design, construct and install multiphase flow pipelines and risers.
operate and supervise onshore and offshore oil and gas production facilities
carry out BOSIET, HUET, Rigging & Slinging (BANKSMAN) and basic diving techniques
Participate effectively in deep water issues of oil & gas exploitation, field review and development.

Duration:

The programme shall be 12 calendar months of intensive full time study.
Award of Degree: Successful students at the end of the programme shall receive a Masters’ Degree awarded by the University of Port Harcourt, Nigeria.

Professional Certification: Students will be presented for Associate Environment Practitioners (AEP) Certification and other professional bodies.

Admission Requirements:

Candidates must possess a minimum of Bachelor’s degree Second Class Honours, Upper Division, in any branch of Engineering and should have completed their NYSC before June 28, 2013. Consideration may be given to Sponsored Company Staff with a minimum of 5yrs relevant experience with a CGPA of 3.0 on a scale of 5.0.

Application Fee: A non- refundable Application Fee of Twenty Thousand Naira (=N= 20, 000) in certified bank draft made payable to the Offshore Technology Institute, University of Port Harcourt. Applicants should either include a pre-paid FedEx envelop with the draft or collect the Form in person. Forms can also be obtained on-line from IPS website and submitted with the bank draft.

Completed Application Forms must be returned to: The Director, Offshore Technology Institute, University of Port Harcourt, Port Harcourt, on or before Friday, June 28, 2013.
Aptitude Test holds on July 18, 2013. Names of short-listed candidates for the Aptitude Test will be displayed in the IPS Website www.ipsng.org. Short-listed candidates will be contacted by e-mail.
Oral interview will hold in July 30, 2013.short-listed candidates for the Oral Interview will be contacted by e-mail.
