Many have been asking about universities cut-off marks and departmental cut -off too, Well, On this page , i will try my best to explain how the cut-off mark process work in my own understanding. Mainly there are three stages or rather kind of Cut-off marks as far as universities admission process is concern in Nigeria.
JAMB National Cut-Off mark
Universities Post-UTME Cut-off Mark
Departmental Cut-off marks
JAMB National Cut-Off:
Well, This is the normal national or general cut off mark that will allow you to apply for you respective school of choice . Jamb will officially announce the general cut off mark after result breakdown . Last year Jamb 2014 general cut off mark was 180 , meaning that , with this you can either qualify for the federal or state university post-utme screening exercise.
Universities Post-UTME Cut-off Mark:
After the general cut-off marks, some federal universities might decide to cut their entrance mark @ 200 and above while state universities will still accept the 180 national cut-off mark. So, if you scored below 180 in your jamb , you might consider changing your school of choice to state university. This cut-off mark will also enable you to sit for the post-utme screening test as well.
Departmental Cut-Off Marks:
This is the final cut-off marks, from General to departmental. This is one of the most used tactics many universities use in removing or reducing number of student needed in each faculty.
