BVN…no doubt will be the 3 letter intials that will be in every Nigerian’s mouth that owns a bank account in months to come, as banks are getting ready to start restricting transaction of customers yet to register and obtain their BVN, lets understand the term BVN.
What IS BVN ?
BVN stands for Bank verification number, The goal of the Bank Verification Number (BVN) is to uniquely verify the identity of each Bank’s customer for ‘know your customer’ (KYC) purposes; The BVN helps to reduce fraud, increase the efficiency of banking operations and also enable customer access to future credit facilities.

To get your BVN a customer must enroll at any  branch of a bank where he/she has an account or  intends to open an account it takes upto 24 hours after registration to get a BVN, Once the BVN is generated, the bank would inform you of your BVN.  All customers would receive SMS alerts.  .

Please Note: Registration of Bank verification number is a must/compulsory and the BVN expires after every ten years then you re-register.

  1. hello sir when I want to check my BVN no with my phone it did not work I complan the y said they mistakenly use another person phone number for me what can I do will it affect me from open another account

I insert my passport in to my brother id card to open my account, by the time they are doing bvn I don’t really know the meaning so I now go and do bvn in my brother name, the reason why I use my brother I’d card is that, by then I didn’t have any I’d card with me, I mean my own I’d card, any time I keep money in my room they use to go and still it, so the only I’d card I can see is my brother own so that is why I now decided to make use of it, now i go and open another account with my own I’d card, by the time I want to do bvn they now said I have done it before, and is true, so were the problem is now this, the account I use my brother I’d card to open is moment account, now I use my own I’d card to open another account the bank said I can’t do bvn with my name because I have done that with my brother name, so please what I my going to do? please and please.

Your Comment Here…I have a Bvn issue with my bank for close to a month I have submitted all they request from me to effect the error that is cause by them but up till now it has not been effected. please what do I do because I need to link it with my Nysc account for me to be able to access the account. thanks

  11. An error was made in my BVN registration. The wrong date of birth was inputted and my bank has tried to correct it to no avail. Pls what should I do to get the correction made
